My family and I stayed in one of Waitt’s Lake’s newly remodeled cabins about a month ago, and our time together was surprising, and adventurous.
None of us had ventured out to Waitt’s Lake, though it’s only an hour drive from home. The goal was to escape the daily grind and get reconnected with each other.
We had never stayed at a lakefront cabin together, but we were hoping it would provide just the dose of fun and relaxation we were looking for.
So, what was it really like to stay at Waitt’s Lake?
Easy
Aside from our 1-year-old being fussy nearly the entire ride, it was a beautiful & scenic drive. Not only was finding our cabin easy, but getting in was only a code away.
From brand new floors to comfortable furniture and modern appliances, the kids were immediately impressed with how nice the cabin was. I was just thrilled to have everything we needed to eat our meals and have coffee. That’s the sublime part about staying in Airbnb’s – they feel homey and they provide almost everything you need to be comfortable.
Above & Beyond
We are a family of five, and I imagine that many people who stay in these cabins are families, so I was thrilled to see a stack of board games under the coffee table.
I also wasn’t expecting to have our own bbq on the patio – it was too early in the year for bbqing, but next time!
I discovered later that day that we also had access to firepits right beside the lake, and we contemplated heading back into town just so we could get supplies for s’mores. And of course let’s not forget about the view. Who doesn’t want to wake up to that in the morning?
Rejuvenating
My family and I live in a large house and we tend to separate into our own spaces. The cabin was just small enough to force us to actually hang out with each other. We ate together, played games, and despite our best efforts to stream a movie, we couldn’t (wifi is something Waitt’s Lake Resort is working on offering).
The lack of wifi actually turned out to be a blessing, because we spent quality time together, something we never get enough of with everyone’s busy schedules. We all spent some much-needed time outdoors, somehow we all locked ourselves out of the bathroom (I blame the kids) and my 1-year-old found a great place to sit in a basket. Now we those memories to cherish together.
